Project scope :

The project aims at utilization of ground improvement methods for the design and construction of airfield pavement, apron, taxiway and runway approximately 1,070,000 sq. m. Ground improvement design includes determination of geotechnical design parameters, specifications and special provisions of all materials and methods to improve soil mass used to support airfield pavement, apron and runway structures. 

Accomplishments :
  • •  Conducted the detailed coordination of design with the designer of the re-fuelling system to be able to verify the requirement of fuel hydrants and apron joint pattern
  • •  Assessed the existing drainage system design to be able to verify capacity of the whole system to accommodate run-off from pavements
  • •  Reviewed and updating the details of design requirements in close cooperation with NBIA-PMC
  • •  Verified user requirements through direct liaison with NBIA-PMC, Airports of Thailand (AOT), AEROTHAI (ART), IATA, ICAO, Airlines and interested Government Agencies
  • •  Carried out complete design of the Airfield Pavements including Ground Improvement using both a PVD with sand surcharge technique and, as defined, pled bearing slabs
  • •  Prepared Tender documents and cost estimates
  • •  Prepared responses to the Requests for Clarification by the tenderer
